Management and preservation of World Heritage sites of the country is the responsibility of the DOA. At present there are two cultural heritage sites in Nepal which are inscribed in the World Heritage list ; Kathmandu Valley and Lumbini,
The Kathmandu Valley was inscribed, as a single world heritage site incorporating seven monument zones.There are Hanumandhoka,Patan and Bhaktapur Palace squares; Pashupatinath and Changunarayan Temples; and Swayambhu and Baudhanath Stupas. For the proper conservation and management of the these world Heritage properties His Majesty's Govt.of Nepal has declared them along with necessary adjacent areas '' Protected Monument Zone'' under the provision of the Ancient Monument Preservation Act 1956 [B.S.2013].
Now all the conservation and management efforts of the state party and W.H. Committee are Concentrated to return the site from the list of W.H. in Danger . The redefinition of the boundaries of the monument zones has been already completed. The draft report of the Integrated Management Plan has been submitted to UNESCO.
